Ranu is a Papuan Australian passionate about creating space for expressing, connecting and healing culturally through the medium of art craft, dance and music. Her practice comes from spending time recreating traditional costumes and cultural artefacts while living in Australia.
Ranu teaches the hand weaving technique that creates a strong and beautiful string bag. The bilum is unique to Papua New Guinea and is commonly used by PNG women to carry babies, take vegetables to market, and is also used as handbags, hats and fashion statements. Ages 16+
